Experiments in new technology

In industry, rapid-prototyping means producing a new object in the fastest possible time. It allows new idea3d-images to be given physical form to help refine their design.

In my vision, it also allows for a customer to have a say in high-end design – to be a partner in the creative process. This thought lead me to develop software which takes a free-form design for furniture or smaller household objects and rapidly creates kits-of-part to allow it to be built. The early experiements lead to the following bowl design.

Once the form had been determined, a cutting pattern for fabrication from mild steel was produced by the software in around 8 seconds!
